This Vertical Farm Uses 95% Less Water and No Soil

Urban indoor farming has gained serious traction in America this year, thanks to AeroFarms in Newark, New Jersey. Because of its innovative root-misting system, the company can use 95 percent less water than a field farm, and no pesticides, herbicides, or soil. (LED lighting replaces the sun, further reducing the energy footprint.) AeroFarms is currently building out another vertical farm in Newark, which will have the capacity to yield 2 million pounds of greens annually — making it the largest indoor vertical farm on Earth.
